Here is a good analogy:
Internet -> roads
Browser -> means of transportation, ie: car, truck, bicycle...etc.

How can you drive to the store if you DON'T KNOW WHAT A CAR IS!!!

ps. Google HAS A browser, but IS NOT a browser!!!

Hmm, let's see... The difference between a search engine and a browser... Oh, I have it! A search engine is two browsers! (And before you start arguing, I am of course right:
A browser is an AGENT (-er) that performs the ACTION of browsing, i.e. searching through some information without necessarily interacting with it. That seems to me like a good definition of a web crawler (source of information>search engine database) and the second is searching within the database and outputs the results.

Probably more like a GPS, where the results are waypoints. When you click a link, your browser (car) goes (drives) to the website (a place on the information highway).

Sadly, most of these people who don't know what a browser is probably use the internet almost daily. This is why shitty, over-priced software prevails on the market. People just don't know any better and will accept anything put in front of them by the distribution company they buy their computers from. Google's made some good moves so far with the chrome and android projects so far... but I fear they're going to end up turning into another Verizon or Microsoft all too soon.
